Hyderabad, September 13: The Telangana Prajasanghala Joint Action Committee Chairman, and the Telangana Intellectuals’ Forum Vice-Chairman, Prof. I Tirumali, have said that there was no significance to the September 17 as the whole of India, including Hyderabad State was freed from British rule on August 15, 1947.
Delivering inaugural speech at a seminar on “Hyderabad State—17th September Independence or liberation?” organized by Telangana Intellectuals’ Forum and Telangana Prajasanghala Joint Action Committee at Telugu University Auditorium, Nampally, here on Sunday, Mr Thirumali said that there was no need to celebrate September 17 as Hyderabad Liberation Day in Telangana region. He observed that the Telangana state would be carved out on the lines of social and praja Telangana and not caste and communal Telangana State.
Presiding over the seminar, the Telangana Intellectuals’ Forum Chairman, Prof. P.L.Vishveshwara Rao, said that the Telangana would not meant for upper caste leadership. He said that the Telangana would be for the S.C, ST, BC and Minorities leadership. He also alleged that the Seemandhra leaders were lobbying to create Hyderabad as a Union Territory but Hyderabad was an integral part of Telangana.
The Telangana Prajasanghala Joint action Committee Vice president, Mr Bellaiah Naik, charged the political leaders with trying to gain political mileage by conducting September17 as Telangana Liberation Day.
Prof. Bhangya of CIEFL, Prof. Murali Manohar of Kakatiya University, Prof. Simhadri, Mr Zaheer Uddin Ali Khan, Editor of Siasat, Prof. Burra Ramulu Kakatiya University and Captain Panduranga Rao also spoke.
