With Telangana leaders cutting across party lines coming together in unison against time extension to debate on Andhra Pradesh State Reorganization Bill 2013, the decision on the issue taken a new turn.
Leaders of Telangana of the Congress, TRS, TDP, CPI and BJP during a meeting with minister K Jana Reddy and given their nod for writing a letter in one voice against the time extension. Later Jana Reddy reportedly asked their cooperation to impress upon the Center to refrain from extending the time. He is understood to have flayed Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy for seeking four weeks time extension to debate on Telangana Draft Bill.
This is only a conspiracy against the bill and a ploy to delay the debate, he opined. It is known that the Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy urged the President Pranab Mukherjee to extend four weeks time for the debate. A letter was sent through Chief Secretary to Union Home Ministry which in turn sent it to the President for a decision, according to information. However it is to be seen what decision is going to come from the President in this regard. While the deadline for the debate will conclude on January 23.
Reacting on this Minister D Sridhar Babu said that all the parties have come together and decided to write a letter to the President against time extension. Besides we are seeking Pranab’s appointment for expressing our views that extension of the time is only to delay the bifurcation process and delay the Telangana Draft Bill. On Chief Minister’s urge for extension of four weeks time he said that it is only a conspiracy to stall the bill, he said. It is nothing a sabotage of the Seemandhra leaders against Telangana statehood, he alleged. (NSS)
