Reacting to the quitting of Telugu Desam Party by MP M Y Mysoora Reddy, TDP President N Chandrababu Naidu today said if one or two leaders left, there would be no loss to the TDP. Addressing a press conference at Prathipadu, he said the party had respected Mr Reddy and made him Rajya Sabha Member. Quitting the TDP to join the YSR Congress was tantamount to degrading himself.
The Former Chief Minister predicted in future, the YSR Congress Party would merge with the Congress Party for political mileage. Expressing resentment over the steep hike of the price of petrol, he pointed out that when he was the Chief Minister, the price of petrol was Rs.39 and now it was over Rs.81.
He assured to reduce the sales tax on petrol to 23 per cent from the existing 33 per cent, if the TDP is voted to power. He said the TDP would continue its agitation against the hike and demanded the state and Centre to slash the taxes on petrol.
