No link between statehood demand and by-elections: TPS

Telangana Praja Sanghala Joint Action Committee convener Gajjala Kantham on Saturday said that there was no connection between the Telangana statehood issue and the by-elections to be held for six Assembly constituencies in the region on March 18.

Talking to media persons, he said the Telangana statehood issue has nothing to do with the by-elections in the Telangana region. Stating that the Telangana state formation would be achieved with continuous people’s agitation, he said that the outcome of by-election results would not be helpful in mounting pressure on the Centre to announce a favourable decision on the separate statehood.

Suspecting the commitment of Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao towards achieving the statehood for Telangana, he alleged that KCR has mortgaged the interests of Telangana people to the Centre. He said that Telangana Praja Sanghala Joint Action Committee would organize a massive convention at Khammam on March 25 and announce its future course of action to be adopted for separate statehood agitation.
