Kochi: Senior Congress leader Oommen Chandy, sulking over the appointment of 14 new district Congress Presidents in Kerala ignoring names of his supporters, today said he has no issues with the party high command.
The former Chief Minister, however, stuck to his demand that organisational polls be conducted in the Congress in the state.
” …no issues with the high command,” Chandy said here when questioned by reporters about the telephone calls he received from AICC General Secretary in-charge of Kerala Affairs Mukul Wasnik in an apparent bid to pacify him.
“My suggestion is that organisational polls should be conducted in the party. That will strengthen the party,” he said.
Chandy said he had raised the demand for organisational polls during a recent meeting with Rahul Gandhi.
He said the Congress Vice President had agreed with his demand for organisational polls.
Chandy said he was ready for discussion, if he is invited by the high command.
Meanwhile, Congress sources said the party high command’s move to reach out to Chandy is to pacify him ahead of the state political affairs committee meeting.
Chandy has indicated that he may not attend the meeting, scheduled for this weekend.
