Megastar-turned Tirupati MLA K. Chiranjeevi on Friday expressed surprise over the reports that he was being accommodated in the Rajya Sabha and either his wife Surekha or his brother Nagababu would be contesting from the Tirupati Assembly seat.
Speaking to media persons, Chiranjeevi asked how his wife or his brother would contest from Tirupati Assembly constituency when there was no information from New Delhi that he was being accommodated in the Rajya Sabha. “I am happy in the State and I will be more happy if I am called to Delhi”, he said, adding that he did not get any information from the party high command about his nomination to the Upper House in Delhi.
The former megastar was reacting to reports in a section of the media that Chiranjeevi would be inducted into the Union Cabinet after getting him elected to Rajya Sabha.
Reiterating that he never said that he would become chief minister of the State, Chiranjeevi asked media persons whether he said so earlier. He said that his participation in the electioneering in the by-elections depends upon orders of the party high command. He would abide by the decision of the party and plunge into electioneering wherever the party asked him to do so. So far, the party high command gave no directive in this regard, he added
