No hazardous industries in residential areas: GHMC

GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar said that the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation will see that no dangerous and hazardous industries will situate in residential areas.

The Commissioner said that the team of GHMC led by the Commissioner himself has rushed to the fire accident spot in Musheerabad and could see that there is no human loss by deploying 12 fire engines at a time since the timber depot, where the fire accident took place was surrounded by thickly densed residential apartments. He further said that GHMC will conduct a survey of such industries, where there is no space for vehicular moment when there is an accident and cancel all those trade licenses, see that no trade licenses are given in those areas. He further requested the general public to bring such information regarding hazardous industries in their surroundings (residential areas) to GHMC through 24/7 call centre (155304) of GHMC.

Somesh Kumar said that in today’s Prajavani Programme 56 grievances have been received out of which 42 are the new cases and remaining are old more than 80% of the cases are from the Town Planning wing. The Commissioner said that every need is there to reduce the complaints pertaining to Town Planning in the coming days.

The Commissioner said that GHMC is concentrating on a comprehensive road development project with a innovative and comprehensive plan to take up the road repairing works duly providing the drains, medians, ducts for laying cables footpaths etc., to this effect the matter will be placed before in the next Standing Committee to accord sanction to take up the works on priority as most of the roads have been very badly damaged and needs immediate repairs Rs. 250 crores worth of works under phase-1 will be taken up after the approval of the Standing Committee.

Somesh Kumar said that directions have already been given to Engineers to furnish a detail report on mostly damaged roads duly making survey. The Commissioner said that reports are yet to be received pertaining the causes of damaged roads etc., so that the works can be taken up avoiding such problems faced earlier. The Commissioner further stated that Rs. 50 lakhs have been sanctioned for 24 Engineering divisions to take up road repairing works and GHMC will also provide additional funds based on the requirement at the particular engineering division.
