No grace marks for Physics-II paper: Parathasarathy

Secondary Education Minister K Parthasarathy on Wednesday made it clear that the government would not give any grace marks for physics paper of second year intermediate examination, in which approximately two lakh students failed this year.

Addressing the parents who staged dharna before the Board of Intermediate Education office appealing to add grace marks for unqualified candidates to save their wards academic year, Parthasarathy said that the Board has set the paper from the text book of physics and there was no out of syllabus questions in the paper. Out of 21 questions in the paper, he said that 15 were from the text book only.

The minister said that the students were following the guides, notes and printed material supplied by the coaching institutes instead of concentrating on the text books of Board. He advised the students to focus their attention on the application side rather than mug up of lessons blindly from now onwards.

Parathasarathy said that the Board of Intermediate Education would conduct supplementary examination for the failed students in May. He asked some vested elements to stop malicious campaign against the Board. (INN)
