New Delhi, August 12: The government on Wednesday, Aug 11 sought to clarify that there is no evidence to prove China’s support to Maoists but mentioned “one unconfirmed report” on alliance between a Nepalese organisation and the red rebels.
“We have no evidence on reports that China is lending support to them (Maoists),” home minister P Chidambaram informed the Rajya Sabha during Question Hour.
“On whether anti-national or international forces are supporting Maoists, we have no evidence of any covert support to them. There was one unconfirmed report about a contact between a Nepalese organisation and Maoists.
“But, there is no proof of Maoists getting money from international agencies,” he added.
He also assured the upper house that the government was vigilant and that it plans to take action if such reports are confirmed with the backing of friendly countries.
