Lucknow : With a tussle going on between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen party (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi over the issue of nationalism after his remark that he won’t chant ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ slogan, a Lucknow-based cleric on Thursday said that a new argument has started which has no end.
“I think the new issue on Nationalism is harmful for our own nation. Every Indian is a nationalist and he or she doesn’t need to prove his or her nationalism. It is giving a wrong message to the whole world that Indians are fighting among themselves in their own country,” Khalid Rashid Firangi Mahali told ANI.
“One should not make any remark which hurts the sentiments of an individual. I think on the issue of nationalism, a new argument has started which has no end” he added.
He also said that one should think before speaking and should see that his/her statements are in accordance with the law and order of the nation.
“Such statements show that there is Hindu-Muslim confrontation in the country, which is actually not there,” he added.
Against the backdrop of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat’s suggestion that the new generation needs to be taught to chant slogans hailing mother India, Owaisi has said that he won’t chant slogans of ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’.
The RSS chief had earlier said the new generation needs to be taught to chant slogans hailing mother India.
“Now, the time has come when we have to tell the new generation to chant ‘ Bharat Mata Ki Jai’. It should be real, spontaneous and part of all-round development of the youth,” he said.
Bhagwat’s comments came against the backdrop of the row over alleged anti-India sloganeering in the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) campus on February 9. (ANI)
