Hyderabad, November 08: When it comes to the behaviour of the children, parents of the nine youngsters caught for their mischievous acts recently, have resorted to blame games.
The nine minors, all Intermediate first and second year students of a corporate college, were caught by Jubilee Hills police on November 3, for writing graffiti on walls, throwing eggs on passing two-wheelers, shopping malls and luxury cars parked in front of houses in the posh Jubilee Hills and Banjara Hills.
When police summoned some parents of the boys, they blamed other boys for their child’s behaviour. “Every parent is blaming other boys for their child’s act,” a police official said. Officials said parents were reluctant to admit their child was involved in such an act. “They are not even aware about their children roaming on the streets late at night,” the officer said.
When the children admitted they were involved in such hooliganism, parents blamed other children for the mischief of their sons. “My son might have been dragged into doing this by his friend,” one parent told the police. Police have found that the children were doing such hooliganism just for ‘fun’. “When we questioned them, their only reply was they derive fun out of doing such acts,” the officer said, adding, though the boys were not involved in a major crime, their act was created much nuisance.
Meanwhile, police, residents and owners of business establishments were relieved that acts of hooliganism had stopped since the arrest of the nine youngsters. “We have information about similar gangs. They have not created any nuisance in the few nights since the arrest of this gang,” Banjara Hills assistant commissioner of police R Ravinder Reddy said. Police said though there might be nearly five to six such gangs, two gangs were very active moving in small groups and creating such nuisance.
Meanwhile, police are waiting for other gangs to come into action to nab them. “We will counsel all the students, including those arrested after we catch other gangs,” police said.
