No disturbance in distribution of Asara pensions: Jupally

Panchayatraj and Rural Development Minister Jupally Krishna Rao has directed officials concerned to see that there won’t be any disturbance to the distribution of ‘Asara’ pensions in the backdrop of demonetisation of big notes.

Jupally conducted a review meeting on asara pensions, employment guarantee works and setting up of skill development centers at EGMM located at Khairathabad hereon Friday.

Speaking on the occasion, Panchayatraj commissioner Neethukumari Prasad said that the distribution of wages to workers of employment guarantee delayed due to demonetisation of big notes though the government released the funds to it. There was a need to see that no disturbance to be occurred in releasing the asara pensions to the beneficiaries, she said. The government released Rs.395 crores for the distribution of pensions and the government was in discussions with the banks and post offices to see that there won’t be any delay in distribution, she said.

The Minister said that there was no use with the Rs.2000 note as the pensioners will get only Rs.1000 and it has to know whether the banks and post offices have Rs.500 and Rs.100 notes or not.   He said that the officials have to see that there would not be any delay in distribution of pensions and the officials have to discuss with the RBI in this regard if the need arise.
