New Delhi, January 29: The BJP has warned the Congressled UPA Government at the Centre against delaying tactics on Telangana.
The party has demanded that the proposed committee to be set by the Centre should complete its consultative process ahead of the Budget Session of Parliament. The Bill for creation of separate Telangana should not only be introduced but passed in the Budget Session of Parliament.
The BJP reaction was in response to the statement of Union Home Minister P Chidambaram that the Centre was almost at the end of concluding that exercise of constituting a committee on Telangana and if all goes well, it will announce it by next week. BJP Andhra Pradesh incharge Prakash Javadekar said the consultation process, whether through the committee or otherwise, should be concluded within a timeframe. At any rate, it should not be delayed beyond mid-February, when the Budget Session of Parliament is slated to commence.
“The proposed committee should not become an excuse for delaying the process of creation of Telangana,” Javadekar said.
The BJP leader insisted that the Bill for the formation of the separate State of Telangana should be brought and passed in the ensuing Parliament Session.
