No debate if no telecast of RS proceedings: BJP

BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad today said there would be no debate on Telangana Bill if there is no live telecast of Rajya Sabha proceedings.

Live telecast of Rajya Sabha proceedings should be allowed as the Union government is scheduled to introduce the bill in the Upper House, he said. Why the Union government not taking up the matter of blackout of live telecast of Lok Sabha proceedings on Tuesday, he asked.

While government sources said it was a technical glitch, the BJP said it was a “tactical glitch”. Such a thing had never happened ever since live telecast of Parliament proceedings was launched in the 14th Lok Sabha, sources said.
Meanwhile, Union ministers Sushil Kumar Shinde and Jairam Ramesh, both members of GoM, had a meeting with BJP senior leader M Venkaiah Naidu in the office of Arun Jaitley in the Rajya Sabha. Reliable sources said Venkaiah Naidu asked them to first announce the proposed package for Semandhra region. (NSS)
