Congress senior leader K Kesava Rao has said that he had no regrets that he did not get extension of Rajya Sabha membership and added that he knew all along that he would not be re-nominated.
Talking to the media here on Monday, he said he would never compromise on Telangana issue. He has expressed doubts that he was denied RS re-nomination because he spoke strongly on the Telangana issue. Asserting that he would not compromise on Telangana for any thing, Kesava Rao said despite not being in position, he would take the Telangana movement forward. “What I want is Telangana and not position.” Kesava Rao who has been maintaining stoic silence since some months, fearing of losing RS seat, added.
Kesava Rao however expressed confidence that the Congress would concede Telangana demand. Reminding that the Congress had promised the people to create Telangana, he said it would be better for the party to keep up that promise as soon as possible. Replying questions, he however said that the Congress High Command had no bitter feelings against him as was being reported in some quarters. He also said that he was not finding fault with the Congress High Command. He has congratulated the candidates selected by the High Command for Rajya Sabha from the state. (NSS)
