No comment on Ayodhya issue: Mamata

Kolkata, September 30: Trinamool Congress chief and union Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee Thursday refused to comment on the Ayodhya verdict.

“I will not comment on this issue,” said Banerjee to mediapersons who assembled at her residence here in Kalighat.

However, a senior Trinamool leader, on condition of anonymity, said: “We have been asked not make any statement on this issue. The senior leaders will discuss the implications of the verdict. As the issue is very sensitive, we are told not to make any controversial comment.”

He also said: “Our party chief will discuss this issue with other senior leaders and lawyers Thursday night.”

By a majority decision, the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court also ruled that the land around the disputed site should be divided into three parts — one going to Hindus, another to Muslims and the third to Nirmohi Akhara, a Hindu sect and a litigant in the case.
