No change in MIM stand: Asaduddin Owaisi tells CM

Hyderabad, July 07: Amid intense speculation as to how chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy will overcome the latest T crisis triggered by resignations of ministers and MLAs, MIM President and MP Asaduddin Owaisi met him at his camp office in Begumpet on Wednesday.

Though the chief minister’s office and the Hyderabad MP decided not to speak on what transpired during the meeting, it is learnt that Kiran Kumar Reddy briefed Owaisi on the unfolding political scenario and wanted to know his future plans. Owaisi, whose party is an ally of the Congress, reportedly told the chief minister that there is no change in the MIM stand and there is no question of resignations from his side.

The MIM has said in the past that though it is against the bifurcation of the state, it would not oppose creation of Telangana. It also said that if Telangana is made Hyderabad should remain its capital.

Owaisi told TOI later that he brought the issue of non-implementation of 4% Muslim reservation in the recruitment of teaching and non-teaching posts in Osmania University. The chief minister has assured him that the reservation policy for the Muslims would be followed in Osmania University.

The MIM leader urged the chief minister to shift the pump house that is being set up under Pranahita-Chevella project in Sarangapur village in Nizamabad district to some other place as it would affect the livelihood of thousands of Muslims there.
