A telephone call made from a Utah number to the Indian Embassy here about a bomb threat appeared to be a hoax after US Secret Service agents searched the premises and found nothing.
US security personnel searched the premises of Indian Embassy and Indian consulate, both in NW D.C.
The threat was made over the telephone. The U.S. Secret Service was notified at about 11 a.m.
The Indian embassy is located at 2107 Massachusetts Avenue NW and the Indian Consulate is located at 2536 Massachusetts Avenue NW.
Authorities carried out precautionary checks and sweeps of both buildings but no explosive was found.
Road were temporarily closed on Massachusetts Avenue NW from California Street to Belmont Road NW, 2100 block of Massachusetts Avenue NW and the 2700 block of Macomb Street NW.
