Taking a peculiar stand, Rajasthan’s Ashok Gehlot government has decided that the sportsmen having any kind of links with Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) or the Jamaat-e-Islami will not be held eligible for government awards. Only those sportsmen will be selected for government honours who would sign an affidavit clarifying that they have no connections with RSS or JIH.
RSS and Jamat-e-Islami both have strongly condemned the government’s decisions and termed it as illegal.
