Traffic police has decided to divert auto rickshaw traffic leading to Charminar to make making the monument accessible, safe, secure and aesthetic. According to traffic police sources entry of auto rickshaw would be banned in the buffer zone to ease the traffic flow. As an experiment, plying of auto-rickshaws around Charminar was restricted for the last few days from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Now it has been decided to totally restrict plying of auto-rickshaws round the clock.
Autos coming from Madina through Nayapul will be diverted towards High Court while those coming from Shah Ali Banda towards Charminar will be diverted towards Moghalpura Kaman. Entry would be banned for autos in the buffer zone. Meanwhile the traffic police has decided to pull out all the pillars erected under Charminar Pedestrian Project to prevent traffic from being disrupted.
It must be noted that the GHMC has spent an estimated Rs. 100 crore till date on CPP related civil works.
