No admission for Urdu candidates in DIET colleges

Hyderabad: District Institutes of Education (DIET) offer a two year Diploma Course in Elementary Education after passing Intermediate. In Telangana State, there are 22 DIET Colleges in Govt. and Private Sector. The enterance test for admission into D.Ed. was conducted on 3rd August 2015. The verification of certificates was completed in the month of September. The counseling for admissions into these colleges was held at Aligarh Muslim University Old Boys’ Association Hall, Basheer Bagh in which the candidates from Telangana District participated. In the said counseling, all the 22 DIET colleges were reserved only for Telugu Medium students. The students of Urdu medium were deprived of admissions.

A delegation of student and their parents met Mr. Zahid Ali Khan, Editor of Siasat Urdu Daily and requested him to make a representation to the Govt. Zahid Ali Khan told them that D.Ed. course for Urdu medium candidates is also available at Maulana Azad National Urdu University, Hyderabad. He expressed his surprise that when the Govt. has granted Minority status to colleges, justice should be done to the Urdu medium students. He promised that he would make a representation to the Govt. so that the students should not be deprived of one academic year.
