No action yet on “Laxmi’s NTR” film: CEO

Hyderabad: Chief Electoral Officer Rajath Kumar today said the Election Commission cannot take action against the release of film “Lakshmi’s NTR” directed by Ram Gopal Verma.
Talking to media persons here today, the CEO said the EC can only act after its release on finding the veracity of the content against a political party or in support, he said. The film is set for release on March 22 and may have negative effect on the ruling TDP in the polls in Andhra Pradesh, added. On the effect of biopic movies on political parties, community or religion, he said they have received a plaint by the TDP on the film and the EC was yet to take action.

With regard to discrepancy of amount in Kodangal segment in last Assembly polls, Rajat Kumar said investigation will reveal the facts. The police said Rs 17.5 crore was seized and the IT wing put it at Rs 51 lakh, the CEO said.
