Nellore, March 29: The tussle between former chief minister N Janardhan Reddy and his brother N Padmanabha Reddy for control over NBKR Educational Institutions in Vakadu has intensified with NJR declaring his son Sriramkumar Reddy as its new chairman.
Padmanabha Reddy and his son N Bhanusekhara Reddy, who kept themselves away from the office of NBKR Educational Institutions, lodged a complaint in Kota police station against NJR’s son and former Congress MLA Prakash Rao.
In the complaint, he alleged that NJR’s son and the former MLA illegally entered the college for occupying his chair. However, the police are yet to register a case.
It may be noted here that late N Balakrishna Reddy, uncle of NJR, established the educational institution in 1933 in the name of Harijanodharaka Sangham for promotion of education in the backward area. Later, it became popular as NBKR Institutions.
NJR took control of the educational institution after the death of Balakrishna Reddy as his son Himakumar Reddy was too young at that time.
After getting himself busy in politics, NJR left the institution under the control of his brother Padmanabha Reddy though its ownership remained in the name of Himakumar Reddy.
NJR who strove for the development of NBKR Institutions, which runs various degree and professional colleges, never aspired for any post.
He just worked as a Maths assistant.
His sons also did not crave for any top post leaving it to the control of Padmanabha Reddy as chairman. His son Bhanusekhar Reddy was the correspondent of the educational institution.
Differences between NJR and his brother cropped up in 2009 general elections when Padmanabha Reddy threw his weight behind Panabaka Krishnaiah, who unsuccessfully contested for Gudur Assembly seat.
Despite his old age, Padmanabha Reddy conducted door-to-door campaign in Vakadu mandal for Krishnaiah widening the gap between the two brothers.
Now, NBKR Institutions having a rich history, has become a bone of contention between the two brothers.
