The Nizamabad police on Friday completed the questioning of MIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi in the alleged hate speech case.
The Nizamabad Police which took Akbaruddin Owaisi into its custody from Adilabad District Jail questioned him for about six hours here. Sources say that a police team led by DSP Ram Mohan Rao posed various questions related to the speech that he delivered during a public meeting on December 8 at Quila Road.
Although the court had permitted two-day police custody, the Nizambad police completed the questioning on Friday itself. The MIM leader was later produced before a magistrate who sent him to judicial remand till February 7. On court’s orders, Akbaruddin Owaisi was shifted back to Adilabad District Jail.
It may be mentioned that the II Town Police Station had registered a case under Sections 153, 153 (A) and 295 (A) against Akbaruddin Owaisi for allegedly delivering a hate speech. He was produced before IInd Additional Judicial First Class Magistrate Radhakrishna Chouhan on January 24 wherein he was sent to 14-day judicial remand and shifted back to Adilabad District Jail.
On January 30, the magistrate granted two-day police custody for Akbaruddin Owaisi for further investigations into the alleged hate speech case.
Meanwhile, the Sangareddy Court adjourned the hearing on the bail petition of Akbar Owaisi to February 4 in the case registered in 2005 for alleged assault of the then Medak District Collector.
