Nizamabad MLA creates hurdles in reconstruction of modern Unani Hospital

Nizamabad: Rs 70 lakh was sanctioned by the state government for reconstruction of an old Unani hospital in Dharugalli, Nizamabad. This was done as part of state government’s efforts for promotion of Unani and Ayurvedic medicine through Ayush department.

Though the construction works had begun, Nizamabad MLA B Ganesh Gupta intervened and stopped construction activities.

Nizamabad government Unani Hospital was constructed in Nizam’s period 95 years ago which earlier comprised of 5 beds but was upgraded to 10 bed recently. As the building was in a dilapidating condition the government sanctioned Rs. 70 lakh and called tenders for reconstruction.

But the said MLA wants the land to be used for the construction of mini Hajj House. These efforts to close down the Unani hospital have created apprehensions among the people who want to go for the traditional system of medicine instead of the modern system.
