Self-styled Godman Nityananda today filed a petition in the Andhra Pradesh High Court praying for stopping the release of Kannada-based film ‘Swamy Satyananda,’ which was dubbed into Telugu. Nityananda’s counsel, who moved the petition in the High Court, mentioned the Kannada movie, claimed to be based on his real life, was dubbed into Telugu and if the movie was released, the sentiments of his devotees would be hurt. Nityananda also mentioned in his petition this film portrayed him in a derogatory manner and attempted to insult and defame him. He urged the court to direct the censor board of film certification to stop the film’s release and made Censor Board, Centre and State Government as respondents.
The court, which allowed the petition, would take it up for hearing tomorrow. UNI
