Nitish demands remerger of Jharkhand with Bihar

Patna, December 14: Bihar Chief Minister, Nitish Kumar today said he was in favour of creation of small states but demanded in the same breath remerger of Jharkhand with Bihar.

“Why only Jharkhand? The proposed Poorvanchacal state out of Uttar Pradesh should also be merged with Bihar,” Kumar told reporters here.

To this end, the constitution of the State Reorganisation Commission was necessary since it could recommend both bifurcation and reunification of states, he said extending support to demands for creation of Bundelkhand and other small states in the country.

Jharkhand was created bifurcating Bihar in 2000.

The chief minister, however, declined to comment on the demands for Mithilanchal, Seemanchal and Bhojpur carving out of Bihar.
