MUMBAI: Cabinet Minister Nitin Gadkari reveals the actual reason behind Prime Minister Narendra Modi‘s promise of depositing Rs 15 lakh into every citizen’s bank account.
In an interview aired on a Marathi channel recently, the minister for road and surface transport said, “We were very confident that we would never come to power, so we were advised to make tall promises,” said Gadkari during the show. “Now that we are in power, the public reminds us of those promises made by us. However, these days, we just laugh and move on.”
Gadkari also admitted that the biggest reason behind BJP winning the 2014 Lok Sabha election was on the basis of false promises.

The senior BJP member’s comments on a television show gave the ruling saffron party much embarrassment.
Congress quickly responded by sharing the clip of the video on Twitter saying that Gadkari had proved that the BJP government was “built on Jumlas and fake promises”.
Taking a dig at the Modi government, Rahul Gandhi also tweeted: “You are right. Even the people now started thinking that the government used their aspirations and faith for satisfying party’s needs.”
