NIT-Warangal suspended nine students for ragging

The nuisance of ragging has broke the surface at National Institute of Technology (NIT) in Warangal. Nine students were put on the back burner as part of disciplinary action.

It is said that a group of students come to blows at the hostel on Friday and some second year students manhandled a first year student on Friday. The parents of the boy lodged a complaint with the authorities.

On Saturday, the college disciplinary committee conducted an enquiry into the incident and it came to light that the injured student was being ragged by the seniors.

S Srinivasa Rao and PRO P Ravi Kumar, NIT dean (students’ affairs) told media persons that on Tuesday that nine students who all are involvement in the ragging had been suspended for one year from the campus.

The students who were suspended, except one studying in the fourth year, are all second year students.
They identified as P Venkata Surendra (Biotechnology), K Chandrasekhar (Mechanical), K Anil Kumar (Mechanical), B Arun Kumar (ECE), T Vamsi Krishna (Mechanical), Jitin Mannar (Mechanical), U Venkatesh (ECE), and K Pavan Kumar (fourth year-Material & Metallurgy).
