The Nirmal police started interrogating MIM leader and Chandrayangutta MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi in connection with the alleged hate speech he had made during public meetings at Nirmal in Adilabad district.
Though the First Class Munsif Magistrate of Nirmal Metroplitcan Court had remanded Akbaruddin for 14 days judicial custody leading to his being lodged in the district jail, the police had filed a petition seeking Akbar’s custody for questioning. The court granted five days police custody on Friday and accordingly the MIM MLA was taken to the Armed Reserve Police Headquarters where he was subjected to severe grilling by the investigating officers on Saturday.
Before being taken out for questioning the MIM MLA, he was examined by the RIMS doctors, who declared his condition as normal. Supporters of the legislator, including his advocates, brought his personal doctors from the city for conducting medical tests, but the police refused permission for the same.
Meanwhile, the OU police, who had also registered a case against the MIM legislator, issued notices to four TV channels. The representatives of these channels appeared before the police and deposed. After recording their statements, the OU police is contemplating to file a PT petition to bring Akbaruddin to the city for interrogation. (NSS)
