Nineteen properties, 12 vehicles damaged

Hyderabad, December 09: About 245 TRS activists and sympathisers, who resorted to violence in various parts of the State, were arrested today.

In a press release, Director- General of Police RR Girish Kumar said that in all, the protesters either damaged or burnt 12 vehicles, both private and government, and damaged 19 properties.

In Hyderabad, 15 TRS workers attacked a SETWIN bus and damaged its glasspanes at Motinagar Crossroads in Ameerpet.

A jeep belonging to the MRO was set on fire at Qutbullahpur, two SETWIN buses were damaged in Secunderabad, stones were thrown at a private bus at Vanasthalipuram, and two trucks of CRPF and Greyhounds damaged at Osmania University.

Stones were thrown from vehicles on Hotel Shanbagh at Basheerbagh in which a 25-year-old customer, Khushboo, was injured. Stones were hurled at a mall in Punjagutta, and at Devi Theatre near RTC Crossroads.

At Asifabad in Adilabad district, TRS workers set on fire the vehicle of a TRS leader, Gopi.

The glasspanes of a Tata Sumo vehicle were smashed at an agricultural research centre in Nizamabad. In Warangal district, furniture was damaged in the MPDO office in Warangal and the tehsil office at Nekkonda.

The SRSP office at Hasanparthi was set on fire. In Nalgonda district stones were hurled at the MPDO office at Nuthankal.

“TRS activists beheaded the statue of the late prime minister Indira Gandhi at Borigaon village in Adilabad district and damaged another at Dharmavaram village in Medak district. A statue of Jawaharlal Nehru at Shadnagar was also damaged.

A statue of Potti Sriramulu was damaged in a similar fashion near the GP Office in Ramayampet in Medak district,’’ the DGP said.
