Nine students booked for malpractice in Inter exams

Over nine lakh students appeared for the Intermediate Public Examinations that began here on Wednesday.

As many as 909,038 General and 66,064 Vocational candidates appeared for the Telugu paper –I, Sanskrit paper-I, Hindi Paper-I, Urdu paper – I and Arabic paper – I. However, a total of 65,814 or 6.75 per cent candidates abstained from the exams. While 621 candidates attended after 8.45 AM, 9 students reached the examination hall around 9 AM.

A total of nine cases of malpractice have been booked across the State on Wednesday.

The Board of Intermediate Education had sent Observers to Mahaboobnagar, Nalgonda, Medak, Ranga Reddy and Hyderabad Districts. The examination was conducted peacefully without any untoward incident.

According to the Board of Intermediate Education, all the Regional Inspection Officers were instructed to see that the Xerox machines in the Colleges, Schools and Degree colleges attached to the examination centres and other Xerox centres in the vicinity of the examination centres should remain closed during the examination hours with the help of the local MRO and Police officials.

There are certain complaints from the students, parents and observers sent from the Board of Intermediate Education that, during the past examinations certain college managements revealed the question papers to some of their college students and allowed them into the examination centre with 5 to 15 minutes late i.e., after 9.00 am. To curb this type of malpractice, this year the Board of Intermediate Education has taken a decision to allow the candidates between 8.30am and 8.45 am and a grace period of 15 minutes that is from 8.45 am to 9.00 am into the examination centre. However, today the BIE has directed the Chief Superintendents of the exam centres to allow the students coming to the exam centre up to 9.05 am duly recording the reasons for late come. (INN)
