Hyderabad: XVI Additional Sessions Judge of Ranga Reddy District exonerated nine Muslim prisoners of Cherlapally Jail in an attack case on prison officials.
According to the details, a team consisting of 40 jailers led by the then Addl. IG of Jails, Mr. Sunil Kumar suddenly started searching Pap Agni Barracks of Cherlapally Jail. During the search it was alleged that desecration of Holy books took place. The under trial prisoners allegedly attacked the jailers and consequently jail officials resorted to lathicharge. In this attack nine jail officials including Dy. Jailer, Mr. Hanumanth Rao were injured seriously. They were admitted in NIMS. On the complaint made by the jail officials, a case was registered in Kushaiguda police station against the Task Force accused, Shaik Abdul Khaja alais Amjad, Mohammed Abdul Zahid, Kaleem, Shakeel, Vikhar Ahmed, Syed Amjad Ali, Riyaz Khan and Feroz.
After the investigation, a charge sheet was submitted against them. The police failed to prove the allegations against the prisoners. The court therefore exonerated them.
