Nine Left parties flay “anti-people” policies of KCR

Nine Left parties have condemned the “anti-people” policies of the Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. The Left Parties have also decided to form a Coordination Committee to fight on the farmers’ issues.

The nine Left parties’ leaders — Chada Venkat Reddy, Azeez Pasha, Gunda Mallesh and Pashya Padma from CPI, Thammineni Veerabhadram, DG Narsingarao, T Jyothi and G Ramulu from CPI (M), Janakiramulu and R Govind from RSP, Dayanand and K Narender from Forward Block, Goverdhan from CPI (ML) ND, Vemulapally Venkatramaiah from CPI (ML) ND, Gurram Vijay Kumar and Bhootham Veeraiah from CPI (ML), Ch Murahari from SUCI (C), and Vanam Sudhakar from MCPI (U) attended the meeting held at Maqdoom Bhavan here on Saturday. Bhootham Veeraiah presided over the meeting.

The representatives took many decisions in the meeting. Opining that the Centre may not accord national status to the Pranahitha-Chevella project if the government changed its design, the meeting demanded the government to appoint a committee with experts to complete the irrigation projects and to prepare comprehensive water policy.

Opining that the government has to change its attitude in regard to allocation of Osmania University lands for construction of houses for poor, the meeting extended its full support to the students fighting against the KCR government to protect OU lands. The Left Parties also decided to organize a seminar on OU lands issue. The meeting alleged that KCR was provoking the OU students and made it clear that the Left Parties will intensify the movement in case the government failed to reverse its decision.

The remaining Left Parties have expressed happiness over the decision taken by the CPI and CPM to stay neutral in the ensuing MLC elections. The meeting also decided to fight unitedly on farmers’ issues along with Left Parties’ Farmers Unions and Independent Unions by forming farmers’ coordination committee. (NSS)
