Curfew during the night continued for the second consecutive day in Bijni sub-division of Assam but no untoward incident was reported in the last 24 hours.
According to officials, the district magistrate decided to continue the 12-hour-long curfew from 6pm to 6am to avert any possible disturbance.
Curfew was clamped for 12 hours yesterday night in the Bijni sub-division after a mob attacked a police outpost, after a businessman was kidnapped by suspected NDFB(S) terrorists.
Angry locals had protested and attacked the Ballamguri Police Outpost and burnt a house nearby alleging failure in protecting the youth.
The police lathicharged and lobbed tear gas shells to disperse the mob.
Earlier, a youth was beaten to death by public in suspect of kidnapping a businessman during the day. A local businessman Dhruba Barua was kidnapped by suspected NDFB(S) militants.
