Nigerian delegation meets govt on fake drug issue

New Delhi, August 04: A visiting Nigerian delegation today met Indian authorities to discuss about the recent seizure of consignment of fake drugs bearing ‘Made in India’ label.

“This visit was planned as a confidence building measure in the backdrop of Nigerian seizure of a consignment of fake anti-malarial and anti-bacterial medicines bearing ‘Made in India’ label,” according to an official release.

A four-member Nigerian delegation led by Paul Orhii, Director General, National Agency for Food And Drug Administration And Control (NAFDAC) is visiting India to discuss the various issues with the government.

The delegation had its meeting with the Indian side which was led by the Secretary Department of Pharmaceuticals Ashok Kumar, it added.

During the meeting, Indian authorities assured the delegation about the supply of quality generic medicines to the African country.
