Nifty ends above 4670; auto, metals lead

National Stock Exchange’s Nifty ended at 4677.95, up 84.4 points or 1.84 per cent. The 50-share index touched a high of 4697.20 and low of 4580.35.

Bombay Stock Exchange’s Sensex was at 15682.32, up 283.99 points or 1.84 per cent. The index touched an intra-day high of 15740.83 and low of 15358.94.

BSE Midcap Index was up 1.05 per cent and BSE Smallcap Index moved 1.04 per cent up.

Amongst the sectoral indices, BSE Metal Index was up 2.84 per cent, BSE Auto Index advanced 2.51 per cent and BSE Capital Goods Index inclined 2.38 per cent.

Biggest Nifty gainers were Mahindra & Mahindra (5.78%), Hero Honda (4%), Sterlite Industries (3.86%), Larsen & Toubro (3.71%) and Unitech (3.59%).

Losers were GAIL (-0.87%), Tata Motors (-0.71%), TCS (-0.4%), Suzlon (-0.15%) and Wipro (0.11%).

Market breadth on BSE showed 1552 advances against 1186 declines.
