Paris, January 14: French president Nicolas Sarkozy became a grandfather at 54 this week when the wife of his 23-year-old politician son gave birth to a boy.
Jean Sarkozy’s wife Jessica, heiress to the Darty retail empire, had the baby last night, said Patrick Balkany, a close friend of the family.
Jean is the second son from Sarkozy’s first marriage. He hit the headlines last year when he tried to take charge of the agency responsible for developing Paris’s business district, but had to back down in the face of accusations of nepotism.
