NIA Sleuths Interrogate Terrorist Maqbool

Sleuths of the elite National Investigation Agency visited the Tihar jail here and interrogated Indian Mujahideen terrorist Maqbool, in connection with the Hyderabad bomb blasts.

Intelligence agencies suspect the hand of Indian Mujahideen in the blasts that claimed 17 lives and caused injuries to over 100 persons in the Dilsukhnagar area. NIA officials questioned Maqbool for five hours. It is learnt that Maqbool, along with Imran and Assad, conducted a recce as long back as October last in Dilsukhnagar area. Delhi police had arrested these three in connection with the Pune blasts in October. It was then they said about the reconnaissance mission they had undertaken in Dilsukhnagar, Begum Bazaar and other areas.

The NIA team went to UP, Bihar and Jharkhand to get more information about the Hyderabad blasts. Meanwhile sources in the Union Home Ministry said they had already issued warning about possible terror strikes after the hanging of Afzal Guru to Hyderabad and several other cities. They said the authorities of Bengaluru, Mumbai, Coimbathor and Hubli cities, apart from Maharashtra and Gujarat were warned to be cautious. (NSS)
