NIA has joined Jundal interrogation: Delhi Police

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has joined in the interrogation of Abu Jundal Hamza in a case related to David Coleman Headley, Delhi Police told a city court on Wednesday.

Both Hamza, an Indian national, and Headley, a Pakistani American, have confessed to their role in the 2008 Mumbai terror attack.

Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Vinod Yadav adjourned to Thursday the hearing on the NIA plea for custody of Jundal in a fresh case, saying he was under the custody of Delhi Police’s anti-terror Special Cell till July 5.

“NIA officials have already been granted access to the accused for carrying out certain investigation procedures on the basis of official request received from them,” police said.

Jundal was arrested at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi June 21 after his deportation from Saudi Arabia.

He is being interrogated by several investigating teams, including the Intelligence Bureau, the Maharashtra anti-terrorism squad and Delhi Police.
