NIA detains Hizbul Mujahideen chief’s son

New Delhi: According to the sources received the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has reportedly detained Syed Shahid Yusuf, Hizbul Mujahideen chief Syed Salahuddin’s son since his name emerged out in a 2011 terror funding case in J&K.

The detention order was given after Centre’s announcement of the appointed special representative to carry out further action in Jammu and Kashmir.

According to a government official, Syed Shahid who was working with J&K’s agricultural department was detained after his name emerged out in a 2011 case filed by the NIA.

Syed Shahid Yousuf will soon be arrested said a senior NIA official.

The 2011 terror funding case investigations revealed that Syria based Ghulam Mohammed Bhat, one of the accused in the case, allegedly transferred funds to Syed Shahid on Salahuddin’s direction.

“The money was sent between 2011-14 and it was used for terrorist activities in the Kashmir Valley,” said the official.

Though the case is currently under trial in a city court the NIA has recently revived the investigation.

Four accused persons Ghulam Mohammed Bhat, Mohammad Sidiq Ghanaian, Ghulam Jeelani Liloo and Farooq Ahmed Dagga are already arrested while two other accused Mohd. Maqbool Pandit and Aijaz Ahmed Bhat are absconding.
