New Delhi, March 29: The NHRC has sent a notice to the Haryana Police and Faridabad District Magistrate seeking explanation for not sending it information about the killing of an alleged criminal in an encounter as per guidelines.
The National Human Rights Commission has taken suo motu cognisance of a media report alleging that two criminals were killed in an encounter with Crime Branch personnel in Faridabad, it said in a press statement today.
“Having received no intimation about the encounter within 48 hours as per NHRC guidelines, the Commission issued notices to the Director General of Police, Haryana, District Magistrate, Faridabad, and Commissioner of Police, Faridabad to take appropriate action with regard to the investigation of the case,” the rights body said.
