NHFDC Trust Fund Scholarships for Indian Students

National Handicapped Finance & Development Corporation (NHFDC) is offering 1500 scholarships for Indian students with disabilities. These scholarships are offered under Government of India, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment. The scholarships are available for pursuing graduate and postgraduate professional courses at various reputed organizations in India. Students who get admission to a college to pursue technical/professional courses, on the basis of a competitive examination are eligible for the scholarship without any consideration of percentage of marks at higher secondary/graduation level. Students can apply anytime online during the academic year 2013-14 (i.e. from 01.07.2013 to 30.06.2014).

Eligibility:
-Under this scheme, 1500 Scholarships will be awarded to eligible students with disabilities for degree and post graduate level professional and technical courses from recognized institutions in India.
-Monthly income of the beneficiary /parent or guardian should not be more than Rs.25,000/- (Rs. 3.00 Lakh p.a.) from all sources. Family income includes income of parent/guardian.
-Students who get admission to a college to pursue technical/professional courses, on the basis of a competitive examination will be eligible for the scholarship without any consideration of percentage of marks at higher secondary/graduation level.
-Students who get admission in technical/professional courses without facing any competitive examination will also be eligible for scholarship. However, such students should have not less than 50% marks at higher secondary/graduation level. Selection of these students will be done strictly on merit basis.
-A candidate who is awarded scholarship for one course, after its completion will be eligible for another course too. However, the awardees will not be eligible for a similar or equivalent course.

Scholarship Description: 1500 scholarships under Trust Fund will be awarded in 2013-14 to students with disabilities for professional courses at Graduate and Post Graduate level. Under this scheme, total non-refundable fee is reimbursed as applicable to Government Institutions. In addition, maintenance and books/stationery allowance to the tune of Rs. 31,000/- for Graduate Course and Rs. 40,000/- for Post Graduate Courses are also allowed. Financial assistance will also be provided for purchase of aids and appliances for visual, hearing impaired and orthopedically handicapped students (once in life-time). This scholarship scheme is restricted to those students with disabilities whose total family income is not more than Rs. 3.00 lakh per annum. A novel feature of this scheme is that students can apply anytime online during the academic year 2013-14 (i.e. from 01.07.2013 to 30.06.2014). Even students pursuing correspondence courses are eligible under this scheme.

Number of award(s): To start with every year 1500 scholarships will be provided to the differently-abled students throughout the country. 30% scholarships will be reserved for girls, which will be transferable to male students in case of non-availability of female candidates.
