Next, India-Bangla Test Match to be held in Hyderabad

New Delhi: Bangladesh set to play against India in a one-off Test between February 8 and 12, 2017, at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium here. The match will mark Bangladesh’s first official visit to India since attaining Test status in 2000. BCCI president Anurag Thakur in a statement said “As a leading Test-playing nation, it is BCCI’s responsibility to give opportunity to every Test-playing nation. It is my pleasure to announce the historic one-off Test match against our neighbour — Bangladesh early next year. This will be a great addition to our home season 2016-17.”

HCA secretary K. John Manoj said that “A long wait for a Test had ended. We have been waiting for this since HCA hosted its last Test at the venue in 2013. As we have enough time, we will ensure that it is a great success. With the BCCI making it mandatory to have seat numbers for the Tests, we will soon be into this job. As part of our efforts, we will earmark a section of the stands free for college and school students to encourage them to watch the Test.”

Bangladesh Cricket Board president Nazmul Hassan said that the tour would be a cherished experience for players and the fans of both countries.
