Abu Dhabi, September 12: The next edition of the Asia Cup will be held in June 2010, the Asian Cricket Council has announced. The venue of the tournament, which will have India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh involved in seven ODIs, has not yet been decided.
“It wasn’t easy finding a window in the busy international schedule of these countries,” ACC chief executive Syed Ashraful Huq said, “yet all the boards were extremely co-operative and keen for the tournament to go ahead so it was done with the good graces of all concerned.”
Next year’s tournament will run from the 15th to the 25th of June, and will be the 10th edition of the Asia Cup. Sri Lanka are the current holders of the trophy, after beating India in the final in June 2008. Both teams have won the tournament four times, the first edition of which was held in 1984 in Sharjah.
