Lucknow: The news about world-renowned poet Munawwar Rana’s death has gone viral on social media. Commenting upon it, Munawwar Rana, who is in ICU says ‘Abhi mein zinda hun’.
He also reads a verse:
Ab mujhe apni pazirai se dar lagta hai
Itni shohrat ho to ruswai se dar lagta hai
According to sources, Munawwar Rana is undergoing treatment at a hospital and is in ICU.
As reported by ToI, the veteran poet and Sahitya Akademi awardee, Munawwar Rana (64) was on Monday admitted to Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI) after he collapsed and fainted with chest pain.
On Monday morning, Rana’s health deteriorated and he was given life support but by the evening he was taken off the ventilator. However, he is still admitted in the ICU.
His son Tabrez Rana also confirmed that his condition is improving and hoped that the poet will be discharged in a few days.
