Greater Noida: A 24-year-old newlywed woman, Rachna Sisodia cremated while she was still alive after doctors mistakenly declared her dead.
It is claimed that Rachna burnt to death in a funeral pyre after doctor at a hospital in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh declared that she died of a lung infection.
According to the reports, Rachna’s husband, Devesh Chaudhary (23) along his friends took her body and arranged a funeral pyre in Aligarh where they began to cremate her. But the woman was dragged off the funeral pyre midway after someone claimed that she was still alive.
After she was dragged off the funeral pyre, she did not showed any signs of life but post-mortem examination revealed that the cause of death was not lung infection but ‘shock caused by being burnt alive’.
According to the news published in Daily Mail, Rajesh Pandey, a senior Police Superintendent talking to the media said, ‘This happens when someone is burnt alive. The particles go inside with the breath. If a person is dead, such particles cannot reach the lungs and the windpipe. So, the doctors concluded that the woman was burnt alive on the pyre.’
Rachna’s family has accused her husband of organizing the cremation while she was alive. Kailash Singh, Rachna’s uncle, accused her husband and 10 others of sexually assaulting and killing her.
Police registered multiple cases against her husband and 11 others.
Meanwhile, doctors who were treating Rachna have stood by their diagnosis. Dr Pankaj Mishra, who conducted the postmortem, said that he is not sure whether the body is of Rachna as it was 70% burnt.
To establish identity of the body, doctors have preserved a piece of bone for conducting DNA tests.
