Vishakapatnam, October 13: A new born has had its right eat cut off in a botched ceasarean operation and died minutes after birth at a private nursing home in Railway Colony here. An angry father and his relatives blamed the death on doctors and staged a dharna in front of the nursing home today seeking justice.
According to one P Murali of Kancharapalem, he admitted his wife Lakshmi to Krishna Nursing Home following here labour pains on Monday evening. The doctors told Murali that the Lakshmi’s condition was serious and required caesarian operation. After the caesarian, the doctors told Murali that the baby died and handed over the body to them and told them not to touch the body, Murali said.
When the relatives of Murali took the body to the graveyard and found an injury on the right ear and also blood stains on the body. The right ear of the baby was almost cut. Murali and his relatives took the body back to the hospital and demanded explanation from the doctors. They even staged a dharna, alleging that due to the doctor’s negligence during the caesarian, the baby was injured and died.
Police rushed to the hospital. No case was registered as no complaint was lodged. It is learnt that a compromise was arrived at after negotiations with the hospital management. Local corporator B Eeswaramma blamed the death of the infant on the doctors. They cut the baby’s ear by mistake, which might have caused the death of the baby, Eeswaramma said.
