New Zealand Hindi-Urdu association launched by Kanwaljit Bakshi MP

Auckland, November 15: With an objective to provide common national platform through to the Urdu anjumans and Hindi sangathans scattered across each big city of New Zealand, Urdu Hindi national association was launched at the residence of Siasat correspondent Syed Mujeeb.

The organisation was launched by Indian born New Zealand MP Kanwaljit Bakshi. President association and famous educationist Nafis Akhtar presided over the function. Siasat correspondent general secretary Urdu-Hindi National Association Syed Mujeeb organised the function.

In his inaugural address President Association Nafis Akhtar threw light on the aims and objectives of the formation of the association. He said every one’s mother tongue is connected with his culture and tradition. This is a precious cultural heritage it is everyone’s duty to protect this heritage. Mr. Nafis Akhtar emphasized the need of this association for the promotion of the two beautiful languages of India and Pakistan in New Zealand so far away from their homeland. He said that if nothing is done now then the coming generation will completely forget these languages and no one but we will be responsible for this. Mr. Nafis Akhtar regarded the two languages as the two beautiful eyes of a lovely bride and there is no hostility between the two. The two languages are actually twin sisters. He reiterated.

The Honourable Member of parliament Mr. Kanwaljit Singh Bakhshi congratulated the members of the association who have come forward for this initiative and assured of any type of help. He advised the new generation of Indians and Pakistanis residing in New Zealand to speak English outside their houses in view of the country’s need, but use their own mother tongue inside their houses so as to protect the cultural heritage and maintain strong bond. Mr. Bakhshi assured every possible whether from government or financial support for this good cause. He said that the language plays very important part in the progress of any community, its history and its culture.

General Secretary Urdu-Hindi National Association Syed Mujeeb who is also Siasat’s New Zealand correspondent said in his speech that Urdu and Hindi are two beautiful flowers of the same tree whose script is no doubt different but there is no difference in their dialect and pronunciation.

The function was attended by media dignitaries like Mr. Rajesh Maharaj of Radio FM, Mr. Nasir Khan of Radio APNA and Roopa Sachdev Radio Tarana.
