New York shooting claims four lives

New York, June 20: Four people have been shot dead in a suspected robbery at a drug store in Long Island, New York, police said.

A gunman had entered the family-owned ‘Haven Drugs’ pharmacy, Sunday morning, in Long Island, about 100 kilometers east of New York, killing everyone inside, AP reported.

Police said two of the victims were believed to be store employees and two others customers.

After an emergency call was made by a person in the pharmacy’s parking lot, the local police arrived at the scene.

Suffolk County Police Department Chief of Detectives Dominick Varrone explained how they believed the motive was robbery but that something had gone wrong.

However, how the shooting had unfolded is still unclear and as the investigation is ongoing, no details of the victims have yet been released.

While no suspect has yet been identified, local authorities have begun a search for a lone shooter.
